Doma 4 is a 40ft, coastal cruiser developed for the Spanish market with fixed berths for 4 people but capable of sleeping 6. Doma 4, like its bigger Sister Doma 7, has been created using fresh and interesting design solutions, which will help set this motor-yacht apart from its competitors when it launches towards the end of this year.

The design and development of Doma 4 is again a product of the successful union headed up by manufacturer Astilleros de Alicante, with naval architecture by Barracuda Yacht Design and interior/exterior design and styling by Anders Design LLP.

Doma 7 - The Ultimate 'Pocket Superyacht'

Doma 7 is a 70ft, 8 berth “pocket superyacht” commissioned as a flagship vessel, for Spanish yacht builders, Astilleros de Alicante. With fresh vision, and interesting design solutions, Doma 7 is certain to set new standards for a vessel of this size when it is launched in early 2008.

The interior could easily be mistaken for that of a custom superyacht, with clever use of space, uncompromising functionality, and a contemporary, “grown up” finish.

The yacht has been designed and developed in conjunction with Astilleros de Alicante, with naval architecture by Barracuda Yacht Design.

Alternative to Pavilion Concept

The proposed Pavilion Development in Weymouth is currently a hot topic of discussion. As a local company, Anders Design LLP is offering up its own concept for discussion in the hope of provoking a basis for constructive debate. We believe it is possible to provide a solution that not only satisfies the needs of the Developers and The Council but one that also will have much more appeal to the people of Weymouth and Portland. The Design Concept

We have taken the Council's brief and the same building blocks as the Developer's existing plan but have redesigned the appearance and layout of the scheme to create a design with a more inviting feel, more open spaces and a much more acceptable visual aspect.

Our prime objective was to better integrate the development into the existing beautiful landscape, taking cues from the Weymouth's architecture and also the heritage of our historic harbour. We feel that a fundamental part of any design for the site should be the continuation and integration of the existing unique Weymouth Bay line and promenade into the development. Our design (above) extends the beachfront promenade, which starts at Overcombe corner in Preston, all the way along the length of the development to the end of the proposed Marina. This would provide a much more inviting outlook to the development and would encourage people to explore the complex, rather than feel discouraged to venture beyond the Pavilion back line. The Promenade also takes on another exciting dimension at the entrance to the site by introducing a raised Prom deck with a shopping avenue subtly positioned underneath at ground level. This very nautically inspired aspect will not only give enhanced views of the bay to the public but will also soften the visual impact of the apartments and offices within the devlopment.

Locating the Heritage Centre onto this Prom Deck allows visitors to directly relate to that Jurassic Coastline which forms our heritage and allows for a much more attractive and appropriate frontage than would be possible with apartments. It also allows us to maintain the existing space infront of the Pavilion as a much more open public space for Markets, Carnival Attractions and other Social Events. The space remains much more part of the town rather than an annex tucked away between hotel and apartments. The refurbished Pavilion remains as the cultural 'gateway' to the complex and the (smaller) Ocean room remains an integral part of the Pavilion.

We also felt it was important to keep a feeling of the past by arranging the buildings to resemble trade ships in port from bye-gone days. This arrangment results in a much less obtrusive outlook when viewed from the town and bay. We also decided that the Pavilion's architecture, although modern and in keeping with the 21st century, should take cues from the buildings that have existed on the site in the past.

The Hotel Complex and Marina have been positoned to allow a smooth and open visual flow through from the Prom area. The Marina is surrounded by a grass bank which in the summer months would be a pleasant viewpoint to watch the world go by. For the 2012 Olympics, this space could become an amphitheatre with Big screens showing live TV coverage beamed from across the bay where the sailing races are due to take place; a fitting setting for visitors to the Olympic and other sailing events. The design would also enhance other major town events such as The Carnival by offering new vantage points from which to view The Red Arrows and other bay displays. The redesign of the Marina aspect makes it a much more integral part of the town rather than an exclusive annex. The rearrangement of the berthing layout retains its revenue potential while affording a more practical ingress and egress of vessels.

The key to our concept is that it maintains all of the Council and Developer's requirements but also creates a new attraction to enhance local and tourist life within Weymouth. It is not simply a development of Apartments and Housing. It is a site that will integrate and embrace local life and offer a focal point for people to come visit from far and wide. It is a design that will be visually and functionally attractive rather than an obstuction to the current heritage outlook. Infact, whilst researching the project we found many pictures from the past showing a bustling centre for trade and leisure with a constant train of horses and carts leaving the port and ladies and gentlemen walking along the promenade. With our design we believe the area can be revitalised with an appropriate mix of al-fresco cafes, opens spaces, shops, offices, hotels, apartments and leisure facilities laid out in an accessible and attractive way and also meeting the needs of all concerned.

We would be interested to read any comments you may have. You can post views and suggestions on our proposal by going to 'send a message' in the about us section of our site.

12m Super Shuttle

This Concept offers a 'standard' and 'luxury' fit-out and is designed to operate
in inshore waters at speeds of 25 - 30 knots.
At 12m LOA this vessel can comfortably carry 14-16 passengers in the lap of luxury with a similar interior layout you would expect to find on a private jet or limosine. Two washrooms are located forwards of the main accomodation and two washrooms just in front of this. The Helm area also houses the crew mess which could be configured, if required, to make space for a couple of crew berths.

The exterior styling is simple but effective and will set this boat apart from the competition, taking cues from the automotive industry with its asthetics, material treatments and build quality. We are currently looking for a yard that would be interested in taking on this project.
